Aerial Map + Migration Pics!

Kristy and I headed over to Section2 yesterday to check out the MAJOR mosquito, er, waterfowl migration that's in progress there now.

Be sure to check out the pictures from the Reservoir and Section 2 in the image gallery album "Pre-Season".

The 2007-2008 Aerial Map is now available here.

Site Updates: Faster Site, Integrated Image Gallery

Hey Guys,

Thanks for your patience (especially Hunter!) with the slow access to our old site. We've mostly completed a transition to a fast site. If you're reading this and you have a broadband connection, you should be noticing the effects of this right now.

We've also shoe-horned our image server into the midst of the site, giving us much faster access to images. It won't feel like a seamless part of the site right now, but it's a lot better than what we've had in the past.

More to come...

Why Do We Do It?

I just wanted to offer a heartfelt "Thank you!" to Tom W., one of my father's dearest friends, for sending some wonderful pictures to us that have just arrived. I've posted them here, and I am also including one of Dad's personal writings which Tom also quotes in his scrapbook as well. more »

Spoonbill Total: 293

Spoonbill Total: 293 - Total spoonbills bagged [Bird Summary 2004-05]

I say we should this year show some more appreciate for the faithful spoons who keep some of otherwise dull hunts lively. I think I echo the sentiments of the late Chubby Andrews on that score, too.

Our club Hunt Log record shows that only the teal treated us better last season. That said, I'll be keeping an eye out for the greenheads, of course!

Aerial Photos

Hey, check out the new Aerial Photos we've posted on the club's image gallery.
There are three views, and we need to fix the position of all the blinds so we can mark them on one of the map pictures.

  1. Three Rivers Neighborhood. This shows just the immediate area surrounding the clubhouse, but with no markings on the map.
  2. Three Rivers Neighborhood. This shows all the blinds including Raccoon Bayou by Claypools.
  3. Three Rivers Clubhouse & Blinds. This view shows the immediate neighborhood with markers for the clubhouse and some of the blinds. We need finish marking this up with Terrabrowser.
  4. Three Rivers Region. This view is from pretty high up, with the intent of showing the placement of the club in relationship to the surrounding towns and landmarks.

Thanks to the USGS and Terrabrowser for the cool maps! These are more detailed than the maps freely available from Google Earth, in case you are wondering why we didn't use those... more »
