new ducks
they are here now and we need help showing them whos boss. come over if you can and let's spread out and stack them up.
Hey Dads! Let us know how many of you are planning on bringing kids for the youth hunt !
It's the weekend of Jan.31/Feb.1. A few plans could be made to "kick it up a notch" for them. Knowing how many pits to leave "dressed" would help as well so, we can spread 'em out a little. Dean
Decoy round up
Closing weekend we will begin to pick up decoys. Saturday we will knock out some of the lesser hunted pits. Remember Youth days are the weekend of the 31st and the 1st I think. So pits like N bridge and Claypool we will have ready for the kids. I think that next weekend after Youth days we will make the big effort on the decoys. Thanks for the reminder Dean.
When do we pick up decoys?
Hate to talk about the funeral while the heart is still beating!
But, it would be helpful to know for planning purposes.
Some clubs drain, dry then pickup while others do it while the fields are still flooded.
Anybody got a thought on this? Thanks, Dean
claypoools, heeb resavoir, and dry fields
Claypool is starting to kill a little more ducks now, maybe that means the ducks have been pushed back down due to negative degrees up north. Heeb resavoir (if unthawed) will be excellent, while if there is a dry field that looks promising would work too. Don't be afraid of the cold is what my grnadpa told me. Never give up is what he told me the other night. A duck will do what they want to do.

Read this if you're man enough to hunt in cold weather
I drove to Mack's yesterday to pick up an ice eater($700) so folks who wanted/needed to hunt would have an option. Most clubs dont have a freezing temp option, but now we do. A friend of mine is running his generator all night the next few nights to hopefully keep a spot open at Heeb res. Join Blake if you'd like and pitch in on shifts, gas and generators if you have one. more »
