Great way to end the season. The boys and I were in Section 2 pit Saturday morning and ducks all over the place. The boys tore it up. They tried so hard to get 2 limits, but that last one they just kept missing. Hard to believe that 14 and 11 about outshot their dad during the weekend. Youth Weekend is a good time to remind/teach youngsters about gun safety, so here are the basics as they were taught to me:

The Four Basic Rules of Gun Safety:

1. Don't Ever Touch the Trigger Except to Fire The Gun! Keep your finger outside of the trigger guard. This is the most important rule of all.

I drove the farm this morning and here's the update:
House - good to go
S house - good to go. Water is very skinny on east side of the pit but got up 400-500 in the field and 50 pros were in the decoys knee deep water in the pit. My pump is at the den if you like to use it.

I hosted my brother-in-law and nephew for their introduction to Arkansas waterfowling last Wednesday evening through Sunday at Three Rivers. My nephew, Jeff, was especially excited for a break from Michigan weather, a chance to work his young retriever, Ella, and of course to make some great family memories. more »

Youth season is this coming weekend and it might be a humdinger. I've been visiting with the farmers and they are planning on planting crops earlier this year, thus wanting to drain 1/2 of the farm this week.
I'm trying to get a heads up of how many folks can enjoy this weekend with our jr hunters.
