It's now Open Season on hunt scheduling!!
Hey Everyone,
"Open Season", our new scheduling application, is open for business at last!
It's very basic at the moment, but here are the things you need to know to get started:
- The application requires one of these web browsers: Firefox, Safari or Internet Explorer 7. It WILL NOT work with Internet Explorer 6 just yet. I recommend Firefox for PC users, and Safari for Mac users. Get the free Firefox installer here.
- Currently, the application is very much in a fledgling state. Here are the things the application will currently let you do:
- See your scheduled hunts over the coming seven days.
- Confirm any of those scheduled hunts for you and your whole team.
- Automatically transition unclaimed hunts to Free Ranger hunts.
- Confirm/claim a Free Ranger hunt.
- Automatically remove you from a previously Confirmed hunt when you Claim a Free Ranger hunt.
- In the near future, the application will allow you to:
- Log hunts
- Schedule members outside of your team to hunt with you.
- See all the confirmed hunts for any given day

I see the Open Season folder with all my unreserved pits but cant do anything to them?
Hey Bradley,
Please try that once more time, and look for little green nameblocks with your initials on them in each hunt.
I have been monkeying with some of the gears in the application today, and I may have temporarily disabled a feature when you encountered that issue.

is there a link to look at the free ranger pits prior to selection day?

Hey Johnny,
Currently, Free Rangers should appear three days before the day on which they occur, with new Free Rangers being generated (from unclaimed hunts) at 9PM each nite. When you see a Free Ranger, that means you can claim it right then.
I had not considered the idea of showing Free Rangers in advance of their three-day window, and that sounds like a good idea, Johnny. I shall add that to my to-do list.

I wanted to click on ?? and add my son that would be hunting with us. Is this up and running yet? I confirmed the hunt for my team but wanted to add on the ??. It may not be available yet and that is fine if it is not. See you friday.

I was trying to do the same thing until I read the Moo's whole post. Great work Moo. Will we eventually be able to see other members (members on other teams) confirmed hunts? It would be nice to see who else is planning to hunt on a given day, and when I click on the Open Season link the data is limited just to me and my team member's firm/unclaimed hunts.

Hello Louis,
Open Season is not yet capable of managing non-member hunters (guests) just yet.
We do have plans to add that, however. As evidenced by the question marks themselves. :-)
For now I would recommend continuing to communicate directly with your teammates about the available guest slots in your team's pits.
