If you're planning on coming over before christmas to hunt,DON'T!!!! The place is completly frozen over as of Sun am.Even the 18 mph winds couldn't keep the water open. No ducks were seen at all except a few high flyers, and they were riding the winds headed South

You know its bad when Eggs, Garrison, and even Addison have left the club and headed to warmer climates

The place is empty....

those who think outside the box and do what it takes......HUNTERS. Sure you can't do the same old thing and go out to a pit 5 minutes 'fore shooting time over frozen blocks and expect to get results. We know however, that there are ducks in Poinsett Co in significant numbers. Think outside the box! If you are able to take off work.....go hunt. Buy your self a marine sump pump, take battery, drill hole in ice and pump the water on TOP of the ice around the hole about 45 minutes before shootin' time. Any ducks moving will respond! Ducks are hungry and have to eat, especially when its this cold (they have to eat more). We just have to figure out where!

I admit I've had a cocktail or too and its easy to armchair quarterback when I have to work tomorrow,,,,,

:-)

Dean took care of clubhouse and bunkhouse since it was a ghost town last night.

had some pretty good hunts in the past in similar conditions. When it warms and gets foggy.....break some ice and hunker down. Some of the TRIV old timers can tell stories....

Plenty of ducks around, ask Greg Holly about his limit hunt this afternoon in less than an hour. We've got access to deep water with Heeb Res that will freeze if it's under 20 for a week or so, but we're no where near that. I bet it will thaw out in a couple days, watch the forecast.
There's no telling when you're going to get covered up, so just go when you can and see what happens. If all else fails, you can eat good blind food and tell jokes with friends.

I think my statements are backed up by Johnny Mays posts this morning , that even Heeb Reservoir is iced over and no birds are to be seen . It will only get colder this week until Christmas..

Yup, it's cold but ask the GA boys about their limit hunt yesterday afternoon after your blog telling folks not to come over.

Ducks have to eat and after a thaw, hunting is usually good.

Hope to see you soon.

Been there since Friday. Be creative. The puddles in the dry fields will thaw easy. Fields in the pm if the rain keeps coming. The ducks are there and are hitting the spots they can in big numbers. Killed again this afternoon - Tues. Splashing 'em is fun. Skidding 'em is more fun. Heading back home for Christmas. See ya'll on Friday night. Where's the New Years party? Merry Christmas.
