Duck Report -1

Buffer

Arkansas opens this Saturday morning and most artificially flooded properties and the larger lakes report a good number of ducks.
Enjoy them while you have them, because they will leave with just a little pressure.
AGFC reports a very dry October-November, thus most rivers are down and most WMAs are dry, thus low habitat availability.
The Big Muddy is below 0 at Memphis; Cache, Bayou, etc. are all low.
St. Francis, above Marked Tree, is at 211.5 msl, because of gates and siphons (act like dam), but no water in woods; takes 213 for that.
Arkansas duck population is 418,293, which is 8% below last year and well below the 1985-2008 average of 564,564.
Mallard count is 141,599 which is a 4% increase over last year, but below the long term average of 268,766.
Most mallards are in the Grand Prairie region.
Mississippi opens on Thanksgiving and it is also dry, but with pumped fields holding good numbers.
Where are they going to go?? We have them trapped!!!
Good Hunting; look for the drakes!!

TRIV has had some of its best years in similar drought conditions with thousands of acres pumped up. Buckle your seatbelt.
