- Canvasback was banded and lived 29 years 6 months
- one Black duck and one Mallard lived 26 yeras each
* Oldest waterfowl
- Canada Goose - 30 years 4 months

* Of 6.2 million banded mallards, 990,815 have been reported

* Fastest duck
- Red Breasted Merganser - 100 MPH in Alaska
- Previous record was Canvasback - 72 MPH

* Wood duck ducklings have been observed to fall 89 meters (97 yards) from the nest to the ground without apparant injury.

* Wood ducks sometimes raises 2 broods periods in one breeding season

* Although many ducks remain monogomous during a single season - some buffleheads, halequins, long tail ducks, Barrow's Goldeneyes, and common eiders, reunite and breed with the same partner year after year.

* About 1/3 of wood ducks in the eastern US & almost 3/4 of Pacific flyway woodies are nonmigratory.

* A black duck was once recovered in France after being banded in New Brunswick.
