Bucket Pit Pump
Just wanted to share this bucket pit pump set up I built for about $75 not including the battery for hunts after a rain or hunting a leaking pit. I used the smaller 2 gallon bucket because I will be hooking it up to a marine battery I already use for other decoy gadgets anyway. If you don't have a marine battery, use a 5 gallon bucket and mount a 12v sealed battery like used with larger decoy toys inside the bucket. I mounted a Johnson brand 750GPH marine bilge pump to the bottom of the bucket using three #8 x 1/2" Tek screws. I used a 1-3/4" hole bit to drill 4 holes in the side of the bucket near the bottom, then covered with thin expanded metal like used with BBQ grills and attached again with #8 x 1/2" Tek screws and small washers. I used silicone on the screw tips inside the bucket to prevent puncturing the 3/4"dia x 5ft plastic bilge hose during storage and transport. A 3/4" garden hose will also work. Used 16g wire and alligator clips and camo paint to finish the job. Bought everything at Home Depot except pump and hose at Bass Pro. If you are like me you will recover the cost by all the items you will now save when dropped in the bottom of the pit with no water! :)
