Guys at TRIV,

Below is an e-mail I shot to Hunter detailing my adventure from opeening weekeknd. I'm OK but out of action for a while. I'll probably miss this firsat good wave of ducks, more for all of you to shoot at. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers and I'll see you soon. Special thanks to Randy Neely, who went out of the way to get me to the hospital in Jonesboro, make sure I was OK and square away my gear.

Earlier e-mail:
HZ,

Here is the scoop.

Im sure you heard about the accident and my general condition. The bottom line is I got the least bit careless loading my 4W and you see what happened. Please remind everybody to be very careful not only with 4W but with guns in blinds, crossing ditches, running to North 40, whatever. Let me be the example for the rest of the year.

The good news is Im not dead but Im pretty banged up. No internal injuries. Jaw broken in two places, multiple lacerations to face and mouth, several damages teeth but none lost amazingly (yet) and sore ribs and back but not too sore.

If you ever really want to know how bad the roads from Jonesboro to Memphis are, ride it in the back of an ambulance strapped to a metal gurney. Dragging me would have been just fine.

Started stitching me up at 5 pm in Memphis. Took over 2 hours. Got local shots of some 30 or so just to get started. Ended up with 30 or 40 stitches (I lost count) in my face and inside and outside my mouth. Should come out this week. Spent the night Sunday for observation and they let me go. Monday, had my jaw set and mouth wired shut for at least three weeks (that really hurt). Then well look at fixing my smile. Im having giblet gravy, dressing, mashed potatoes thru a straw tomorrow.

Thanks for the package dropped by the house the other day. I can communicate by text and e-mail. Thanks for the prayers and concerns. Ill be up and around in a month or so. Wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving for me.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I can not imagine the piece of pain you will wish to inflict upon them when you get back in action.
