Nothing scientific, but I'd guess that the wintering spec population around us have quadrupled in the last 5 years. When I was a kid, I don't ever remember seeing specs.
My point......learn how to hunt them b/c they are plentiful, decoy well and taste yummy. Grover's favorite table fare.

Looks like speck population is still growing. Should be fun.
