Wish I Had Been Struck Blind

Gentlemen of 3R,

Well, today was one of those days. I, at the whim of some great cosmic force which I refuse to acknowledge or name, was made to witness something I would have rather been struck blind than to see.

Randy, the Great Coot Killer, shot one time and two pintails fell. Oh, Three Riverians, how I wish I could report that it were not so. But, unfortunately, it did occur just as this humble scribe reports it.

All the more galling is the fact that right before he pulled the trigger, I swear by all that is holy to me ( which significantly limits the field), that Rick Brantley ( Mr. Take'em") had just opined to everyone in the pit that "those birds are way out of range".

Come to think of it, I wish I had been struck deaf, also.

Be all of that as it may, the rest of the hunt was enjoyable. We killed 9 pintails, 3 mallards, and a gadwall, and we didn't start until after we had let Randy watch the third hour of the Today Show, where Kathy Lee and Hoda discussed their favorite recipe's and how men should embrace their feminine side. (Randy seemed especially moved by that segment.)

I just bought another Stoeger. Anybody else out there own two Stoegers? C'mon, I dare ya.

Chris, how positive was your duck hunting today? That was a great blog.

Hunter, did you come get Lacy, or is she mine now? At least I gave her something to go fetch.

Porkchop, where are you? Porkchop, do you have any idea where you are?

George Washington, I never dreamed I would miss seeing you, but I do. Season running out, big guy.

Thunder is going to bed.

Hey Thunder,

Thank you for calling on Sat. night to try to get us in a pit for Sunday with Dads and kids. We had one of the fish ponds which aren't real condusive for kids sitting on the levee when it's really cold early, so getting into House pit really helped. I really appreciate it. We scratched out 2 pintails, but still had a good time. It really didn't matter due to Saturday afternoon Hadden, my 12yo, and I got into Shop pit for a afternoon hunt and got 9. The best thing about it was he shot 5(2 mallards and 3 spoons) all by himself. He was on fire. I thought if I had had a Stoeger I could have maybe caught up to him.:)

Anyway, thank you again.

Lou

Well I did kill one pintail and on a positive note I only drove 35 miles to get the one. However I do miss everyone
