Some of you may have known Hunter was going to Aspen for a skiing trip. Hunter was involved in a skiing accident today which resulted in internal injuries. He is going to surgery, as I type this, for a ruptured spleen. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. I will post an update as soon as I know something.

Fearless Leader, post spleenectomy, asked the doctors if he could "return to the slopes" in a few days. I think our concerns should now be turned towards the hospital staff and their upcoming indoctrination. They are virginal territory Hunter...take it easy on them

Very true Rusty, LOL. The docs were pleased enough with his progress to move him out of ICU 24 hours early was the report I got last night, so that is great news.

I just spoke with Hunter on the phone for the first time since his injury. It was so good just to hear his voice again. He's definitely not feeling as bushy-tailed as usual, and spent most of our conversation telling me that he's going to be alright. :-)

Thanks to all of your for your prayers,

moo

I spoke with his ICU nurse this morning, medically he is doing as well as could be hoped for-injuries stable. Labs and vital signs look pretty good, all things considered. I also talked with Hunter this morning briefly,,,he is and will be having a tough time the next couple days. Lot of things going on to make him very uncomfortable. The hospital he went to (Aspen Valley Hosp) is small but first class, so he is in good hands. He was in surgery last night within two hours of his arrival at the ER last night, which is an impressive time-frame to assess, diagnose, and surgically intervene. Thanks for asking.

Thanks Grover....Of course, all the Burgess Family will be praying....that IS a good sign that he's already asking to eat and we all know what soon follows when Hunter eats...woah, to those nurses!

Thanks Greg. Update is that Hunter's spleen was ruptured and there was significant internal bleeding. The hospital in Aspen acted quickly in diagnosing and treating the problem. Hunter went to surgery quickly and is now in stable condition. He will be in ICU for 48-72 hours. I spoke to Lisa just a bit ago after she spoke with Hunter post-surgery, he wanted to know when he could eat, and when he could go skiing again, in that order. I took that as a good sign, but please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
