My favorite hunt ever!!!

As the title states, I just finished up my favorite hunt of all time. Got out to the blind at 10:30 and left at 1:30, with 5 spoonies. Not an impressive bag at all, but I would not trade these 5 ducks for any other I have ever taken. What made these ducks so special was who I got to hunt with. For the first time ever I got to hunt with my son Will.
I know it's a big deal for any father to experience this with his child, but words can't express the joy I felt watching my son take this whole experiance in. He blew on his duck calls with a vigor that would rival even "Duckman" Jones. He sat as still as a statue when the birds were near, and helped his old dad spot the ones flying over. He watched and cheered as his buddy (Moose) picked up each and every bird.
I truly never thought this day would ever happen. My son has cerebral palsy, and every day is a challenge for him to say the least. He has pretty severe physical limitations due to the CP, but he has the heart and soul of a lion. He is as passionate about waterfowl hunting as any one I know. I thank God every day for the blessings that I receive, and as I saw the joy in my child's face today I realized how blessed I am. I am blessed to be in a club that allows me the opportunity to make this happen, but I am even more blessed that I have a wonderfull wife to be, Erin, who was able to enjoy this day with us. I could not ask for a better person than I have found in her.
The only thing that would have made this day better would have been to get a full limit, but as Will told me, "daddy if you could shoot better we could kill more ducks".... No truer word has ever been spoken!

I got the pleasure of joining them on a hunt today and we killed about the same amount of birds with the same excuse of should have shot better. I have hunted with the duck man several times this yr an I don't think the duck man can hold a candle to that Lil boy. We gave him a teal whistle and he wore it out and be fore we knew we were covered up with teal. It was an awsome hunt one I will always rember. Even though ole big head showed up. I'm thrilled I was allowed to partake in such a special hunt as it was! A memory I will never forget...... And thunder no offense bit that is my hunting buddy!

Have gun and dog will travel... Wack em and stack em S.W.A.T. style Jack !!!!!

What a wonderful experience to hear about. I am truly awestruck, by your time with your son. What a special day for the both of you. The memories he will have and yourself too. I have to say, this duck club, has the best members any club could ask for. I am so glad you had that time together. We all are truly grateful you posted this experience. Puts a smile on your face, when you know that God gave you the time you deserve to take him out. perfect weather, and had ducks to shoot. Thanks for posting, and may God continue to bless you, your son, and Erin, together as a family.

Brad, Can you believe we were sitting (actually laying) in that ditch south/south/south of South Roberts and South Bridge with Larry and Doug 48 season days ago????? Duck Man Jones stood the entire group up, so we put a halfa#@ plan together! Neither half worked but, Doug and myself had the opportunity to hear about Brad's desire to bring Will to TRIV to hunt! It's gives me joy to read, IT HAPPENED!!! Brad left out a very important point, Will dressed up like, "THE DUCK COMMANDER" for Halloween. Brad and Erin, if you have a picture of him dressed up at Halloween, please post on the website!

Brad, I agree with Dan. I vote Brad for the Three Rivers Golden Globe Blog of the Year Award. A wonderful blog indeed.

And to think there are those among us that curse The Northern Shovler, The Spoonie, The Spoonbill, The Bootlip, the Hollywood Mallard...I say there has never been a finer duck killed in the club, especially today...Great Job Will !

Congrats..and may God in Heaven give you both many more days like this !

Our God is an Awesome God

Brad,

If you have read any of the tripe that I usually put out in my blogs you recognize that I am generally full of s#*t. However, not now.

Yours is the best blog I have ever read on this site, and it probably always will be. Don't tell anybody, but i teared up reading it, and I bet plenty of others did, too. The joy you expressed came straight through. You could feel it.

Congrats to you and your son on an excellent adventure. Please tell him ThunderDan said great shooting, and I'd like him to hunt with me so maybe I could get some ducks. (The guys I hunt with can only shoot coots.)

I hope I get to see you and Will. He sounds like a good prospective member of 3R.

Thunder

That's awesome Brad! Congrats!
