First Blog of New Season

Gentlemen,

As autumn begins to tinge the leaves with a hint of color, I feel the annual stirrings in my soul,(or digestive tract, I'm never sure), to blog. Duck season must be nigh.

I have been to Harrisburg a couple of times already, and I want to tell everyone that Hunter Ziegler, our great leader, the Grand Poobah of Three Rivers, is working his behind off over there.

Grover, how do we look on decoys? As noted before, I still bear scars from the decoy work last year.

Moo, I still don't see my picture on the website.

Hunter, how many new members have we added? I've seen one or two blogs from new guys, and I'm looking forward to seeing the new faces. Heck, they can't be any worse than some of the old faces I have to look at each year. ( I want Porkchop and George W. to know I mean that in the nicest way possible.)

I have a new Stoeger M3500 waiting for me in South Dakota later this week. I accidently broke my old Stoeger last year while beating it against the side of a pit. I didn't know that was a bad idea. Anybody looking for a new duck gun ought to look it up on the internet. Nice easy shooting gun, at half the price or less of Benelli, Beretta, or Winchester. Especially important if one is prone to beat one's gun against the pit.

Well, enough of this mindless prattle. Just felt the need to communicate with my fellow Three Riverians. Sort of a shot across the bow, so to speak. Looking forward to seeing you guys.

The decoys are in much better shape than last year. All bagged up neat and tidy. Alot of work went into picking them up, securing weights with rubberbands, etc.,,, we even went so far as to pressure wash before bagging them up and hanging them up from the shop rafters like coccoons. There will be some stringing to do but no where near like last year's monumental task (the entire flock).

Sadly enough, Hunter has moved me to the Waldenburg warehouse so as to mitigate against another VD outbreak at the Horse Barn. I will miss you all...especially you Dan...such wit and charm...oh-is this public?

Hey Dan, I have a stoeger M2000, and it is a sweet shooting gun. It has the exact internals as the benelli. It is a lot less expensive, and works well in cold temps. You have to keep it clean though or it will jamm on you. Just wanted to side with you on the stoeger, and yes Hunter is working diligently to get things started. He always seems to pull it off. Looking forward to some good fun, and good friends. May the duck Gods smile on you this year.
