Any of you Claypool farm experts care to weigh in on whey East Rayburn has been so non-productive so fart this year? I don't understand it, water is great, location is great (barrel burner pit last season), it.s nicely hidden in a rice levee, field is rice, etc.

My thoughts exactly...beautiful spot - everything seems right...on Sunday AM hunt we would have been skunked if it wasn't for a short bus snow goose...hence I agree that Rayburn has to this point been a "non-productive so fart."

I haven't been able to figure that one out other than while others seems to be best on the thaw, it has been best on the front of a freeze - strong N wind. All the best kill days last year were too.

In my opinion, that pit does good when there is good water in that big field to the east of it. East Rayburn is close to the main dike and that other field. When the water is good in that field next to it, the ducks will work over that field and into the pit. I know it has rained alot so the field may have better water, but earlier in the season I saw very little water in that field that borders the Claypool's field.

Just a guess.
