Buckle Your Seatbelt!

This year has been a great season finishing up with about 1,500 ducks on the books and compared to a lot of clubs, that is really impressive. Next year, we'll have a shot at setting another record with the growth of Three Rivers Duck Club. There are a few details still remaining as usual, but here's what I know now.

More Property:
I have secured a lot of additional property for the club that has seen outstanding hunting in the past and it's right in our neck of the woods. In total, we’ll have access to over 4,000 acres of prime hunting land.

The Hunting:
We will have over 15 quality rice pits and 5 bean pits in the rotation - 17 teams with 3 free ranger draws every day.

Scheduling with “Open Season”:
We are working on a Three Rivers web application, called “Open Season,” that will allow for more pit draws when pits are unclaimed for the following day. It will be ready to launch about one month before the season opens, and we’ll schedule a get together to teach everyone how to use it.

For those of you who enjoyed the improvements to the site last year and embraced the use of it, congrats because it is very useful and is getting better every season. For those of you who didn’t, you will need to begin using the site this season as it will allow for more hunting opportunities for everyone. Taking a couple minutes and scheduling your hunts and logging in your results are going to being mandatory from 2007 going forward. If you are completely computer illiterate, there will be plenty of good coaches to help make this easy for you.

Housing:
Wherever your bunk resided last year is where it will stay this season. I’m working on some additional housing for new members to avoid crowding. If you’re new to the club, I will help you decide where your staple bunk will be. Our goal is for you to have a decent roof over your head and a warm place to put on your waders.

Dues:
No change in the price as it is a goal of mine to always keep Three Rivers an affordable club. $2,200 for an individual membership gets you a bunk at one of the clubhouses, 1 spot on a team of 4 in the rotation, username and password to www.threeriversduckclub.com and all the other usual club privileges. If you show up and for at least three of the five scheduled work days, you’ll get a $200 refund after the season. To secure your spot, mail your $1,100 check to me by 3-15-07 and the balance to me no later than 9-15-07.

If you’re worried about the logistics, please know that I’ve put a lot of thought into this opportunity and am working hard on solutions to the challenges that the growth will bring the club. However, this growth will give you and your guests vast opportunities for scouting, layout hunting and other styles of hunting that I’m still working on. I will need everyone’s cooperation as our growth will have some growing pains, but I know it will worth it to have access so much prime hunting real estate.

Over the years, we have developed a wonderful club of folks who are like-minded about duck hunting and it’s purpose in our lives. In light of this, I would appreciate any comments on how to improve the club and it’s operation. Together, we’ve been blessed to enjoy some of the best duck hunting around and I look forward to Three Rivers Duck Club continuing for many years to come.
