One of my favorite closers EVER.

Thanks boys... I have to say, the final weekend of hunting this season was one of the finest I can remember.

There are a lot more banner pictures to render and post, but trying to keep track of Hunter's spleen-optional "extreme vacation" has kept me a little distracted, lol!

I'm having difficulty articulating the things that made our final weekend of the season one of my best ever, so I'll have to try and post that later.

Let me just say that I really enjoyed my time with Rick Brantley and Rusty Getter. I feel blessed to have had so much time with each of you guys over that weekend... Sometimes the joys of duck hunting are things we share outside the blind.

Our final weekend was for me a monument to ultra-manly hunting, the like of which I haven't seen since I was a kid hunting with my dad. I'll not soon forget:

  • Rusty Getter hoofing it out of Claypool's on foot in some of the worst weather Arkansas has seen in a generation
  • Cane and Stiles hanging tough at Claypool's (mostly)atop their 4wheeler in the brutal cold wind, sleet and snow while carting people (mostly me, lol) back-and-forth from pit to trucks
  • Bubba and Jimmy Eubanks, Leslie Coleman and Clay Colwell endure cold like full-blooded Eskimos at the Fish Ponds. And on top of that, Clay seems to have sniffed out the only moving ducks on the whole farm and put us RIGHT on them. It was SO COLD that I think my Jake was the only gun that didn't freeze up...
