Mike Johns sent me this account of his afternoon hunt by email. I decided to post his email, in it's entirety....a great description of the spectacle Mike & family had the privilege of viewing Sunday afternoon. My own hunt Sunday morning would have been miserable due to the downpour of rain, if not for the almost constant stream of ducks into shooting range....I actually forgot the weather at times! To those of you who missed it...you have my sympathy. Remember the old duck hunter's secret....take advantage of weather changes...awesome duck activity usually occurs and the sights seen are long remembered. I bet Will and Michael won't soon forget this boyhood memory!

"Hunt Log for 11/25/07 PM @ South Bridge

Will Johns, Michael Johns, & Mike Johns

5 Ducks

3 Mallards
1 Grey Duck
1 GW Teal

Wind from ESE
Drizzle & overcast

I could have killed Michael's and my limit, but I was letting Michael shoot
his 2 or 3 shots before I began shooting. He came...oh so close... several times.

As we were leaving, several large groups of ducks started working all around the Section Two area. Before we reached the field bridge, the flood gates had opened up. Large groups
turned into thousands. I don't mean two, maybe three thousand - I mean thooouuusanddds!! I mean much more than what I saw on the reservoir yesterday evening. It was reminiscent of opening week two years ago.

We saw every species of duck that migrates through NE Arkansas. Just when we had gotten to
the field bridge, I was able to show Will a group of 60 to 75 Widgeons which he thought were Pintails because of their whistling. As we had just crossed the field bridge I was able to show him the difference by the group of at least 100 Pintails that buzzed overhead at no more than fifty feet. There were several large groups of Mallards, as well.

As far as the eye could see in the dimming sky, all we could see were groups of ducks.

I had parked your four-wheeler (which we borrowed - by the way - thanks) about 150 yards west of the bridge, and when I started it to leave, waves of ducks pulled out of the rice stubble in the North Bridge field.

It was all the boys could talk about from the L-10 house all the way into Marked Tree.

Sorry for the long e-mail, but I thought you might enjoy hearing about it.
