Daddy! Let's Go Dunk Hunting!

I sure enjoyed taking my 4 year old Ben duck hunting last season! It was a magical time for both of us!

It was very satisfying to follow in my father's footsteps as I began Ben's training in the noble pursuit of waterfowl, the art of duck hunting.

The clubhouse experience was great fun. Ben had a blast playing with the other kids at the Den, and especially swinging from the "pirate rope" that my friend Rusty Getter installed on our three-story bunk bed!

The next morning, we were met with immediate success as I called in and landed a drake mallard in the decoys in the first fifteen minutes of our hunt.
I was so proud of my little Ben, who was able to be mostly still while ducks worked us, never complained of cold and walked all the way to the pit and out again on his own!

There was a massive flock of snow geese sharing the field with our decoys, making a giant ruckus as is their habit. I asked my son what he thought the geese might be saying, and he immediately replied, "They're saying 'Hi Ben!' "

My Ben was fascinated with the entire world of duck hunting. The ducks were just a small part of the experience for him... So, even if you don't have a dynamite place like Three Rivers Duck Club to take your sons and daughters, just remember that their active little minds will be engaged by everything around them: the mud and the frogs and the geese and the eagles. ... and all the other things they might encounter for the first time on a duck hunt! And, they'll love discovering all of those things with you.

Make plans to take your little ones this season everybody! You'll never regret investing in your family.

Looking forward to this season!

PS: Another treat for me in the whole experience was hearing Ben say "Dunk Hunting" repeatedly... It was a perfect gift for a sappy dad like me!
